Here in Cannes after riding 44k I was faced with creepy CS host #1 who sugessted that we sleep in the same bed in his crusty tiny apartment. At that point I bolted and then had to roam the streets for several hours before finding the one open "youth hostel" if you could call it that 20 euro for a bunk bed in a room with two guys who I havent met yet who live there and are "workers". Not to mention, with a cold water shower, the kind that you have to push over and over again and the mentally challenged manager of the place locked us out while he was trying to show me the door code, he then had to climb through the window and change the lock, i really hope that I will be able to get back in later- Well I feel crap officially, the only consolation is that after the second dentist appointment, my teeth have now been declared to be fine! what the? why do some men spoil the box? I will not be gotten down by these bad apples! I feel better now x

Now first of all I insist that you report all these jerks to the Couchsurfing website. Please ! Also ... I found some interesting people once while looking for a place for Jojo to stay in Cannes once... there were some nice people ... where are they ?
I feel so bad for you... when are you going to Italy ? Did you find anyone to drive you there? Be careful in Italy too !!!! Wish I could come and save ya ... but you know I dont even have a bicycle ! haha.... will keep an eye on you from Marseille ... !

Thanks guys! i survived the night and I 'm fine. A cool Cannes CS host has come out of the woodwork thanks to my honorary Aunts hunting. I am at his house now after a nice lunch, feeling calm and ready to ride on to Antibes to stay there tonight x

I'm a couchsurfer too, used to travel alone and in each town I visit, I don't forget to have the number of a cheap hostel.
For your safety, have always a "plan B" as we said , always keep another option if you have a problem with your host like it happened to you ( and it can happen that the host is no more available for any kind of reason).
And to forget to give a negative reference to this CS guy, it means safety for the others women, please.
